Subliminal advertising and original thought

21 July 2009 No Comment

Subliminal advertising has come of age. Naked ladies in Playboy ice cubes, subtle reflections in car windows, and one-frame flickers of popcorn and political candidates have been illegal since the sixties, and yet they still exist.

Mind control techniques have taken many forms throughout history, from hypnotic speeches, instilled social stigmas, stained glass, to trenchant laws. Today, persuasive techniques are main-stream.

So cleverly done, fake news, designer propaganda, and buyer-seller scripts are in wide use by both government and corporations… Selling you something is the primary motivation, whether it is a car, a drug, a vacation, or even a simple idea.

Ever have a car salesman ask you something while you are test driving like: “Is this the type of car you would like to drive?” Called “disassociation”, the technique is taught from the GAP staff, to police officers. Mental manipulation is a sound science so concise that after a speeding ticket you will actually feel a fuzzy bond with the officer!

Neuromarketing techniques have developed new “Thought Science” by companies like Brighthouse Institute, who scan the human brain with MRI for reaction to stimuli. The connection between language and behavior introduced by Freud and Jung is now a high-tech reality, and “Seduction” is the key word.
Did you know that some music promotes certain behavior? Ask Muzak. Martin Howard, in his article called: “10 Disturbing trends in subliminal advertising” wrote that the correct music will keep a shopper in the store 18% longer.

Jo-Ellan Dimitrius, Ph.D., has a new publication called “Reading People.” Sound psychological principles analyze a person’s fidgeting, word phrases, mannerisms, and such, so that they can be “read” and their behavior not only predicted, but manipulated. Some who have learned this skill are purported to be master salesmen, and can tell accurately if a person is lying. They change their tactics based on observations of a person. Cues are given if they are visual, tactile, or auditory types. Cues like, “See what I’m saying.” indicates a visual person, and then a technique called “Mirroring” creates the communication channel.

Let’s not get paranoid, but if you don’t want to be a puppet you will have to pay more attention to the world around you.

Control of your mind is control of your own destiny and free will. Question if your decision is actually an original thought, or a recent acquisition to the science of Mind Control. Teach your children your values and ideals. If you don’t, there are others who will.
